VOLUNTEER FOR
REMANN HALL BOOK CLUB

Remann Hall Book Club serves youth in the Remann Hall Juvenile Detention Center through twice-monthly book club meetings on Thursday evenings. The book club maintains a library with a wide selection of books and book carts in each pod.

Volunteers are the heartbeat of our programming at Remann Hall. Since its founding in 2013, Remann Hall Book Club has had many great volunteers who have met with youth, organized our on-site library, and helped spread the word about RHBC in the community.

We have a few designated tasks necessary to keeping RHBC running smoothly. These include:

Remann Hall Reader & Book Recommenders (No Youth Contact)

These folks don't meet with youth, rather they help us identify books that might be a good fit for our bi-monthly meetings. This is a great opportunity to get involved for folks who read a lot!

RHBC Meeting Facilitators (Youth Contact)

Volunteer to work directly with RHBC youth. In order to qualify, you must be 21+, go through a volunteer on-boarding process with the court, pass a criminal background check, and adhere to court and Write253 standards of conduct. We also ask that you commit to a three-month period at the beginning in which you attend all meetings, in order to build rapport.

Meeting facilitators are responsible for leading book discussions, develop discussion questions, and prepare additional materials that help guide the conversation.

Meetings are the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month, year round, from 6-8pm.

If you would like to volunteer with RHBC, fill out the form below and we will be in touch about next steps.

***Currently, meetings take place virtually. When we are able to return to in-person meetings, we will be posting other volunteer opportunities that take place within the space.***

"Relevant programs and mentorship matters. It helps develop character and to unlock passions and gifts. I am so grateful for community partnerships like Write253; they have been such a great and consistent support to First Creek Middle School Eagle Center and our Eastside youth!"
