Why Untitled?

For five years, we produced a poetry slam in Tacoma called Louder Than a Bomb-Tacoma. We went on hiatus in 2020 and are bringing the event back for the first time in three years, so we thought it would be a good time to reassess what the poetry festival is and what it should be called. We wanted a name that better reflected our region and our youth.

The Write253 staff, along with some local educators and youth poets, brainstormed a few names for the festival but none seemed quite right. We decided, instead of forcing a name this year, we will just call it Untitled: The Tacoma Teen Poetry Festival. The reality is that for an event in March, we needed to get the word out and get the posters made so we needed to call it something.

Is Untitled the name of the festival from now on? No. Well, it could be. This is where we need your help. We are opening up the conversation for suggestions from you! On the form below, you can send us ideas for the festival's name. We will take a few of the best ones and have a vote either before or at this year's slam. There we will reveal the festival's new name!

So, do you have a good name for the event? Send it in today!
